LIFE ON THE WATER

Lost Flies and Found Stories

About

“Early on, I decided that fishing would be my way of looking at the world. First it taught me how to look at rivers. Lately it has been teaching me how to look at people, myself included.”

— Thomas McGuane

My name is Braden Hughes, and I’m a fly fisherman.

This may sound like a rehab introduction of sorts, and you could draw that connection because it is indeed an addiction. Those of us hooked by the sport know there is no looking back.

I grew up in the Ozarks, where rivers carve deep into the land and deeper into those who spend their lives chasing fish through them. These waters shaped me, but fishing has a way of pulling you beyond home. It takes you down new rivers, across state lines, and into places you never planned to go.

This is why we built Hughes Fly Fishing—as a place to document, indulge, reflect, and gather insight from life on the water.
